I have been in communication with a young lady from Port Moresby for some months. We met on a dating website, but have not yet met in person.
Latest development, she is in hospital and needs help with hospital bills ... fair enough ... except the hospital does not have her on their patient list. It's staring to sound like a dating scam, except that they usually originate in Russia. Anyone know if such scams are active in PNG? Last edited by Mausgras; 24-01-2010 at 09:58 PM. |

I think we are OK. But damn your hospital is hard to get through to. Takes about ten calls for each successful connection ... and they don't respond to e-mails.
It seems there was confusion about names. I thought this would have standardised since I was there in the 1970s, it was a problem back then. How do you answer the question "What is your surname" so that the Kuskus can fill in the space on the form? She was using her patronymic with me, but her clan name at the hospital, and the hospital staff didn't pick up that it was the same person. As I now have both names I have been able to verify her using several independent sources, including the Australian High Commission ... so no scam this time. |
