And in this reality.. was there really a coconut to begin with?
Did anyone stay at jais aben in Madang? (Talking of coconuts). LIHS had a class trip when I was in year 8. Because of that experience, I encouraged a bunch of teachers to stay there when we all went away for a weekend. It was just as good as I remembered. |

my son steven Honey was the chef at Jais Arben about 2 to 3 years ago.At that time madang was still a safe place.I remember when it wasnt a resort, I must be getting old. We lived a grass house with no doors and sticks to prop the windows open and lived right next to a compound. those were the days

Madang
Hi,
I have never been to Madang, only Port Moresby and Lae. I worked at Nabzab doing the Civil Avaition Radio Communication external plant. In 2002 I went back to Lae and PM for a look and enjoyed myself. I felt safe, in both towns. Every city/town has their danger area, even here in little old Melbourne. Cheers & Beers, Ronnie

I worked at Nadzab during the construction bak in 1977 & 1979. Also drowned a few at the Aviat Club.
I went back in 2003 for a holiday.

Thanks for all the great photos.
I lived in Lae from Oct 1986 - Feb 1989, so not too long (compared with some of the contributors for these forums), and I was only 10-12 years old. However these photos have bought back some long forgotten memories! Does anyone have any photos of the big PTC (now Telikom I guess) building? My father worked there and was instrumental is some major works and changes. Does anyone remember the fire there, in about 1987-8? I am looking to return to PNG next year with my husband and children, to teach in Port Moresby, and if we do, one of the things I want to do while we're there is to visit Lae and refresh my memory with the real thing! Thanks again. Kerry. |
